地名由来[edit]
唐代时村里盛产龙须草，质地上乘，曾作为朝廷贡品，村名因此而来。[1]
人口民族[edit]
全村有1036户、5185人，少数民族所占比例为85.3%。壮、瑶、汉等民族在村中聚居。全村管辖21个自然村。[1][2]
经济[edit]
村域山地约87000亩，耕地9500亩，其中水田4604亩。村中有金、银、铅、锌等矿苗，建有11座小水电站。[1][2]
历史沿革[edit]
2004年，原上草镇并入永和镇，原镇下辖的山岛、真坪、湘洞、塘村四个自然村合并为上草村委会。[1][2]
文化[edit]
上草村于2020年12月入选第一批「广东省少数民族特色村寨」名单。上草村于2017年10月获「第一批广东省卫生村」称号，颁授单位为广东省爱国卫生运动委员会。2021年12月，广东省爱卫会授予上草村「2021年广东省卫生村」荣誉称号。2023年5月，唐下村和上草圩获「2022年广东省卫生村」称号。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
鹰扬关位于村境内，是国道323线上草村与广西、湖南接壤处的古关隘，始建于唐代，清咸丰八年由崖鹰关更名为鹰扬关。[3]
