牛备村位于岭背镇南面，距镇圩13公里，乘车约半小时可到，村里分为15个村民小组。2005年4月，公塘村委会撤销后并入牛备村委会。[1][2]

2013年底，全村745户、3099人，劳动力2086人。耕地约4870亩：水田2428亩，旱地2442亩。2014年，全村经济收入约1643万元；集体收入约3.4万元，农民人均年收入6216元。[1]
