1940年该地设保，此后多次改制；1999年3月管理区重新成为村委会。2005年，坑边、群丰两村的村委会合为今日的坑边村。[1]

全村辖40个村民小组，耕地有13937亩左右，作物以水稻和花生为大宗，也种玉米。村所在的石灰岩山区矿产丰富，其中六仔埪的铅锌矿储量大、品位高。[1][2]
