建民村在石潭镇东北部，离石潭圩约4.5公里，村域面积约3.6平方千米，山林面积较大。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

村名的来历：合作化时期，此地分为建民、建中、建光、建富四个片；后来合并为一个大队，按顺序排号，取第一片的名字，定名建民。[1]

1953年属南楼乡；1958年设建民大队；1983年并入南楼，合称南楼乡；1985年又分开，设建民村委会；1989年划为管理区，1998年恢复为村委会。[1]

地理环境[edit]

全村共14个村民小组，博雅地名网记为697户、2987人（年份未注明）。[1]

耕地面积1612亩，旱地837亩，水田775亩，鱼塘112亩；林地12046亩，商品林1660亩，生态林10386亩。境内主要矿产为铁矿。[1]
