北坑村位于太平镇西北部，村委会距镇政府约7公里，辖21个村民小组，村域面积17.3平方千米。[1]1981年因与清远县其他地名重复，改以村北较有名气的北坑山命名。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1950年时此地隶属石坎乡，1958年为石坎大队所辖。1981年地名普查时改名北坑大队；1983年划入北坑乡，灰林、古碌岭两村从石桐转入其辖下。1986年起为北坑村委会，1989年为北坑管理区，1999年又回到北坑村委会，直至今日。[1]

人口与产业[edit]

村域耕地3724亩，鱼塘85亩，4229人、1175户。村内建有北坑水库，以水稻、蔬菜和水果为主，水果种植面积约3797亩，品种以火龙果、食用菌等为主。[1]
