南北村是太平镇东北部的行政村，村委会距镇政府约4公里，下辖17个村民小组。[1]村名按地理位置而定，因从原大南乡分设南北大队而得名。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1949至1957年间，此地归大南乡。1958年，南北从大南乡独立成大队；1983年至1986年大南乡又设立，下辖大南、中南与南北；1987年撤乡，恢复为南北村委会。1989年至1999年为管理区，之后改称村委会。[1]

人口与产业[edit]

全村504户、1901人，耕地约1473亩，以水稻、花生、番茄、沙糖桔和养殖塘鱼为主。[1]
