地名由来[edit]
据博雅地名网所载的传说，最初吴姓人在此定居，但有人认为此地不宜一姓独居，于是邀请了几房何姓人家迁来，又因有河必有沙，遂定名沙埗。[2]
历史沿革[edit]
1953年建乡政府，此地定名沙埗。1958年成为大队，1983年复为乡，1987年转为村委会，1989年底划为管理区，1999年又改回村委会，2005年才改名沙步村委会。[1]
