平东村是阳春市合水镇下辖的行政村，明嘉靖年间曾在此建山口村。1951年分设平东乡，1999年3月4日经阳春市人民政府批准设立平东村委会。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

明嘉靖年间（1522年—1566年），村落先以山口村为名建立。1951年另设平东乡，此后的1958年改作大队；1983年成为乡政府，1986年起称村委会，1989年又改为管理区。经阳春市人民政府批准，于1999年3月4日设立平东村委会，此名延用至今。[1]

该村于2019年9月列入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
