平北村属阳西县塘口镇，是镇内的行政村之一。[1]
地名由来[edit]
1953年六区拆分大乡，平北位于大乡北部，村委会驻于此，因而得名。[1][3]
历史沿革[edit]
1949年11月设平北行政村，隶属阳江县六区；1953年划入六区平北乡，1956年归塘口区。1958年5月入塘口乡，年底并入大跃进人民公社。1959年组成平北生产大队，当年十月改隶塘口人民公社。[2]
1967年称平北革命委员会，1980年后又是生产大队管委会，1983年设平北乡。1987年2月设村委会，1988年归阳西县塘口镇；1989年9月改为管理区，1999年又恢复村委会。[2]
2022年8月，平北村列为广东省民主法治示范村的创建单位。2021年12月，合怀村、石头塘村、石元头村入选「2021年度阳江市卫生村」。[1]
