平西村属阳西县塘口镇，1949年11月设平西行政村。[2]

地名由来[edit]

1953年六区拆分大乡，原黄什大乡分出七个小乡，平西为其一，位于大乡西部，村委会驻于此，故名。[1][3]

历史沿革[edit]

平西行政村1949年11月设立，此前一月属阳江县六区，1953年划入十五区平西乡。1956年归塘口区，1958年5月入塘口乡，同年12月划入大跃进人民公社。1959年设平西生产大队，当年十月改隶塘口人民公社。[2]

1967年起称平西革命委员会，1980年转为生产大队的管委会，1983年设平西乡。1987年2月改为村委会，1988年归阳西县塘口镇；1989年9月改为管理区，1999年又恢复村委会。[2]

2021年12月，大路田村、龙湖村入选「2021年度阳江市卫生村」；2019年9月，平西村列入「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建名单。[1]
