同由村属阳西县塘口镇。2026年3月，该村被认定为广东省第三批「百千万工程典型村镇」。[1]

地名由来[edit]

村委会驻地旁从前长有许多桐油树，“同由”与“桐油”音近，村名由此而来。[1][3]

历史沿革[edit]

1949年11月此地设桐油乡，隶属阳江县六区，1953年仍归十五区，乡名未变。1956年划归塘口区，1958年5月入塘口乡，同年11月并入大跃进人民公社，12月转属织篢人民公社。1959年成立同由生产大队，此后于1963年划归塘口人民公社。[2]

1967年成为同由革命委员会，1980年转为生产大队管委会。1983年设同由乡，仍属塘口区；1987年2月起为同由村委会，隶属塘口镇。1988年阳西建县后归阳西县塘口镇，1989年10月改为管理区，1999年9月又恢复村委会。[2]

2021年12月，大陂村、塘湾村、里村入选「2021年度阳江市卫生村」。2021年9月，番薯种植列入第二批「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村名单。2019年12月，同由村入选第二批国家森林乡村名单。[1]
