车湖村属阳西县塘口镇，属镇乡结合区，濒临塘口河。2026年3月，该村被认定为广东省第三批「百千万工程典型村镇」。[1]

地名由来[edit]

村名由两层来历组成：村子地处塘口河边，河面宽似“胡”，与“湖”同音；河边又设有取水灌溉农田的河车，于是取“湖”与“车”为名。[1][3]

历史沿革[edit]

1949年11月，车湖行政村建立。1956年该村并入小乡，划归塘口区管辖；1958年11月编入大跃进人民公社，1959年组成车湖生产大队，同年10月重归塘口人民公社。[2]

1967年一度称车湖革命委员会，1970年又恢复生产大队；1983年设车湖乡，仍归塘口区。1987年2月改为车湖村委会，隶属塘口镇。1988年阳西建县后归阳西县塘口镇；1989年9月设为车湖管理区，1999年9月恢复村委会，此后沿用至今。[2]

2021年12月，竹园、塘一、下贯塘、上贯塘、珠江等村在阳江市卫生村评定中获选，年度为2021年。[1]
