新光村位于阳西县程村镇，村名来自1958年11月的一次改名：公社把三山乡统一改为新光。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1949年11月此地设新光行政村，归阳江县六区管辖。1953年归阳江县十二区三山乡，1956年转入程村区，1958年5月隶属程村乡。同年11月被划入大跃进人民公社，12月又改入程村人民公社。[2]

1959年设新光生产大队，同年10月划归程村人民公社。1969年成立新光革命委员会，1980年改为生产大队管委会。1983年设新光乡，1987年2月改为新光村委会，1989年9月起称新光管理区，1999年9月恢复新光村委会。[2]

经济[edit]

2021年9月，新光村入选第二批「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村，主导产品为甘薯，名单由广东省农业农村厅发布。[1]

文化[edit]

2021年度「阳江市卫生村」名单中有根竹山村（2021年12月确定）。2026年1月，新光村获评「广东省第二批百千万工程典型村」称号。2019年9月，新光村列入2018年「广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建名单。[1]
