潭塘村是广东省阳江市江城区中洲街道下辖的行政村，属城乡结合区。[1]村名的来历是旧时村中有一口又深又大的池塘。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网，明永乐年间，有人家从南雄府珠玑巷迁入阳江县合山堡的杨屋角居住，其后一支迁往麻布演。[2]1425年，这一支由麻布演迁到此地建村，初称潭塘。[2]该网页写作“1043-1424”，年份有误（永乐年号为1403年至1424年），本条只据年号写作明永乐年间。[2]

新中国成立后，此地先属一区西北乡，继而属一区潭碧乡。1958年公社化初期称潭塘管理区，属超美人民公社；1983年设潭塘乡，1987年改为村委会，1999年4月复设潭塘村委会。[2]2006年8月31日，改属中洲街道。[2]
