儒步村隶属东源县叶潭镇，是镇下辖的一个行政村。博雅地名网记其村名的缘由与儒斜村相同，都寄望后代成为学问渊博的大学者；两村页面文字一致，此说待核实。[1]

2019年10月，本村列入「2019年广东省卫生村」名录。[1]

镇内的抗日先锋队旧址、中共河源县委旧址、中共九连工委第一次会议旧址和儒步村烈士纪念碑都在本村境内，博雅地名网的村页同样列有这几处，详情见叶潭镇条目。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1953年此地归第九区的儒步乡，1958年为儒步大队，1983年改设儒步乡，1987年改为儒步管理区。1999年，东源县政府同意设立儒步村委会，此名延续至今。[1]
