村名取自上塔与名扬两个村的名字，各取一字而成。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

解放后，本村属龙母区的塔东乡。1977年由塔峰大队辖管，1983年由塔峰乡辖管；1986年上塔从塔峰分出，设立村委会；1990年上塔与名扬合为管理区；1999年设立村委会。[1]

历史遗存与荣誉[edit]

2023年，县政府工作报告把上塔赤卫队旧址列为本地的红色资源之一。[2]

2024年，村庄列入镇里创建美丽宜居村的名单。[3]

2024年3月，村庄被命名为2023年广东省卫生村。[1]
