赤塘村是龙母镇下辖的行政村。村名的来历是：过去山体崩塌，地面砸出一个大洞，露出的石体与沙泥呈赤红色，因而得名。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

新中国成立前后，赤塘一带属赤光区瑶輋乡；1957年划归龙母区洋田乡，1978年自洋田分出，设赤塘大队。1983年与洋田、上洋田合并为洋田乡，1986年设村委会，1989年分出，改称镇属赤塘管理区，1999年重设村民委员会。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2021年4月，赤塘村获得「2020年度龙川县文明村镇」称号。2023年5月，广东省爱卫会评定赤塘村为「2022年广东省卫生村」。[1]
