新潭村是义都镇下辖的行政村。1949年以前，这里称谷潭头村，新中国成立后才改叫新潭。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1949年改名后，新潭村隶属义都乡。水贝公社时期的1958年设新潭大队；义都区成立的1983年，称新潭乡；其后村委会设于1987年，管理区之名用于1989年，1999年又恢复村委会，延续到现在。[1]

博雅地名网的镇概况页把这个村写作“新坛”，区划名称与村页则作新潭。[2]

荣誉[edit]

新潭村是河源市2020年度文明村之一，河源市文明委于2021年1月授予这一称号。[1]
