义都镇在河源市龙川县的西南部，镇政府设在义都圩，离县城约18千米，西面隔着界线是东源县上莞镇，北面是和平县东水镇。[1] 全镇面积约106.4平方千米，2019年末户籍人口31042人，下设1个社区和9个行政村。[1][2]

圩镇之名与秦代的龙川有关：相传赵佗任龙川县令时，在这里设过第二都，后来叫成了义都。[2] 1962年义都成立人民公社，1994年由乡改为镇。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

相传秦朝赵佗任龙川县令时，在此设“第二都”，其后称义都，镇政府即驻义都圩。[2]

1958年，这一带属老隆公社；1960年改归水贝公社；1962年5月分出，另立义都公社。[2] 其后建制几度调整：1983年在此设区公所，三年后区撤销、改设乡，1994年乡又升格为镇，至今未变。[1][2] 2004年，龙川县人民政府批准桐畲、务礼两个村委会分别并入中心村和新联村。[4][5]

地理环境[edit]

镇域是一条带状地带，地势从西北向东南倾斜，气候属亚热带季风类型，年均气温约20℃，年降雨量1700毫米左右。[3] 山地约12.74万亩，耕地约1.35万亩，森林覆盖率72.3%。[3] 地下资源包括铁、铅锌、瓷土、稀土等矿，另有花岗岩和大理石，建有罗田水库、候山水库，并有多座小型水电站。[3]

义都河是东江的支流，发源于桂林村一带的尖石岗，经义都镇、老隆镇后在罗卜坳汇入东江，规划河长32.8千米。[6] 博雅地名网的概况还列出沿途的七个村，自上游起依次是桂林、新岭、新联、红旗、中心、新潭、星光。[3]

居民以汉族为主，属客家民系。[3] 人口数字出处不同：百度百科记2019年末户籍人口31042人；博雅地名网概况页引的是总人口25293人（未注明年份），另一处称第七次全国人口普查所得为1.21万人。[1][2][3]

经济[edit]

当地农业以稻谷、黄豆、番薯、花生、玉米和蔬菜为主，生猪与家禽的饲养量较大；特产有茶叶、油茶、毛竹、芦荟和竹制品。[3] 油茶是义都镇的专业镇产业，镇列入了广东省农业农村厅2020年8月公布的第二批省级专业镇名单（“一村一品、一镇一业”项目）。[2] 百度百科记载，2017年全镇工农业总产值为1.8亿元，农民的人均纯收入8798元（比上年增长6.9%）。[1]

交通方面，省道X173线从镇内穿过，义都车站2007年建成使用，2008年开通了新联至老隆的村巴。[3]
