袁田村原称源田村，因在韩江支流琴江水系上游而得名；新中国成立初改称新田乡，「文化大革命」前再改为袁田。[1] 2026年3月，该村被认定为广东省第三批「百千万工程」典型村镇；2019年10月入选2019年广东省卫生村名录。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

袁田是古地名，明隆庆三年（1569年）永安建县时称袁田村，归琴江都贺岗社，清代属贺岗约。1952年5月设袁田乡，属第二区；1958年改大队；1983年复称乡；1987年为村委会；1989年设管理区；1999年撤管理区、设村委会。[1]

经济[edit]

2022年8月，县委书记到村里的春和中药材种植开发公司五指毛桃基地调研。[2]
