贺光村原名贺岗。村名「贺光」，据说是因为贺姓最早在此定居，如今全村基本姓贺。[1] 该村两度进入省级名单：2019年9月是「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位，2023年5月又获省爱卫会授予「2022年广东省卫生村」。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1569年（明隆庆三年）永安设县，此地既有贺岗社，也有贺岗村，同属琴江都，入清后改设贺岗约。20世纪的沿革为：1952年5月成立贺光乡（第二区），1958年改大队，1983年再称乡，1987年撤区建镇后叫村委会，1989年底管理区，1999年又设村委会。[1]
