水墩镇在河源市紫金县的东南部，东面与梅州市五华县的龙村、华阳两镇交界，离县城约36公里。2019年末全镇户籍人口26708人，辖1个社区、10个行政村。[1][2]镇内的群丰村于2018年12月列入第五批中国传统村落名录，是全县唯一的一个。[1][4]

历史沿革[edit]

明清两代，这一带分属琴江都的秋溪社和泷下社。民国初年归第六区（驻中坝）；1929年起改属第三区；1945年又分别划入龙光镇和中正乡。[2]

1949年后先后归第五区、第三区，两区的驻地都在龙窝。1957年12月析置水墩乡；1958年10月并入龙窝公社；到1961年4月，水墩又自龙窝分出，单独建公社。此后1983年9月公社撤销改设区，1987年4月区再改称乡；1993年撤乡建镇，成为水墩镇。[2][3]

镇名取自圩场所在地。圩设在北琴江支流岸边的一处土墩之下；另有说法称，黄田水与秋溪水在圩附近汇合，河心有一块石墩，村与圩因此得名。[2][5]

地理环境[edit]

水墩镇北邻敬梓镇和中坝镇，西接龙窝镇和乌石，南面是洋头。[3]秋溪河发源于境内，是琴江的源头之一。[3]据1998年的记载，镇内有锡矿、瓷土，还有天然的碳酸型矿泉水。[3]辖区面积各来源略有出入：百度百科记为114.83平方千米，博雅地名网所引1998年的资料为115.4平方千米，当时山林约9871公顷，耕地约1069.5公顷。[1][3]

人口[edit]

1998年全镇有3667户、21003人，共设11个管理区，下有31个自然村。[3]2019年末户籍人口为26708人。[1]2020年第七次全国人口普查时，常住人口约1.2万人，在紫金县各镇中排第13位。[2]

经济[edit]

1998年的资料说当地以农业为主：1998年稻谷总产8568吨，每亩431公斤，而1989年只有5264吨、每亩262公斤；1993年起试用塑料软盘育秧，1992年境内96座木石陂全部改建为永久陂。镇里还有三华李、柑桔、柿子等水果，果园面积合546.3公顷，产果1080吨。该年镇财政收入241.2万元，工农业总产值约四千零四十二万元。[3]

税收方面，2017年的任务是200.1万元，最终入库207.2万元。[1]近年群丰村以三华李为主要产业，种植面积一千多亩。[4]雅布村以茶叶入选2020年首批广东省“一村一品、一镇一业”专业村。[6]

名胜古迹[edit]

群丰村保存着清代至民国初年建的青砖灰瓦古民居12座，被列为中国传统村落，详见群丰村。[4][5]

广东省卫生乡镇的2023年度名单公布于2024年3月，水墩镇名列其中。[2]
