上义村为上义镇的行政村之一，村名与镇名同源，据说出自光辉村岭头围关帝庙楹联。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

相传「上义」二字取自「上扶汉室，义结桃园」联语的首字。[1]

上义大队在公社时期的归属是：好义公社（1958年）、上义公社（1961年）、好义公社（1963年）、上义公社（1973年）。1983年改作上义区上义乡；1987年为村委会，1989年为管理区，1999年重设村委会，沿用至今。[1]

荣誉[edit]

上义村在2019年10月进入广东省卫生村名单，2026年3月又被认定为第三批「百千万工程」典型村镇（广东省）。[1]
