叶西村属紫金县上义镇，是镇辖行政村。村名由旧名茜坑、叶茜村演变而来。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

村里过去长着许多茜草，因而称茜坑，又叫过叶茜村，后觉得「茜」字难写，改成了叶西。[1]

叶西大队在公社时期曾几次改隶：1958年属好义公社，1961年属上义公社，1963年回到好义公社，1973年重归上义公社。1983年在上义区下设叶西乡；1987年改称村委会，1989年再改管理区，1999年恢复村委会建制，沿用到现在。[1]
