北中村在河口镇，位于北溪河中游，是北溪片的经济和文化中心。全村面积15.4平方千米，下设20个村民小组，人口约四千人。[1] 村内鹿洞祖庙是陆河县文物保护单位。[1][3]

历史沿革[edit]

北中乡于解放后设立，1955年和1956年先后办起初级社、高级社，1962年改设大队。1984年3月起，大队体制取消，改由乡政府管理；此后村一级的称呼依次是村委会（1986年）、管理区办事处（1990年）、村民委员会（1999年）。北二村原是其辖下的小乡。[2]

村民以种荔枝、龙眼为主，并利用山地建油茶基地。村里建了北中完美希望小学、鹿洞文化广场和长1000米的堤围，通自然村的水泥路8公里，在全镇最早实现通自然村公路全部硬化。[1]

荣誉[edit]

北中村的称号依时间先后有：2019年9月，被省里列为2018年度「民主法治示范村（社区）」的创建单位；2021年4月，进入汕尾市「2020年度市级文明村镇」名单；2021年9月，以沉香入选「第二批广东省一村一品、一镇一业专业村」；2026年1月，被评为「广东省第二批百千万工程典型村」。[1] 据镇政府介绍，北中村2018年获评省定红色村，北溪（白马）地下交通站遗址也在村内。[4]

名胜古迹[edit]

鹿洞祖庙建在衣屋自然村，创建的年份是明建文元年（1399年），今天所见的庙宇出自清代重修。庙朝向略偏南的西面，正面宽10.6米、深14.8米，占地约157平方米，为砖木瓦结构，硬山顶，墙面饰灰塑和壁画。庙里每年春节演年戏三天三夜，另有安龙打醮和每三年一次的「屯兵买马」。庙为县文物保护单位，相关民俗于2015年、2017年先后列入陆河县非遗保护。[3]
