历史沿革[edit]
村民从陆丰下英迁来建居，起初以濒临印江，叫作“印江村”；后来此处有“向天螺地”的风水之说，名声大了，便称高螺村。[2]行政建制上，高螺在1965年是大湖公社的一个大队；1987年起为村民委员会，1989年一度改称管理区办事处，1998年恢复原制，延续至今。[2]
1928年，十八名负伤的红军战士退到这里，村民腾出祠堂安置，并筹粮送药，两个月后伤员康复转移。[3]
人口与姓氏[edit]
县政府网站载，村中有郑、金、李、陈、黄等姓，郑姓占七成以上；全村660户、3032人，分三个村民小组。[1]博雅地名网另记620户、3941人。[2]
经济[edit]
水田共1634亩，山田270亩，养殖水面超过1500亩。耕地为沙质土，称“望天田”，种水稻和地瓜；浅滩没有港口，渔民多往深海发展。[1]高螺蚝是本村出名的养殖产品。[2]
荣誉[edit]
村子曾获省级卫生村、省级生态村称号。[1]2019年9月，村名见于省2018年度民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位的名单；2024年4月，又列入省首批乡村振兴示范村的创建名单。[2]
