吴田村属兴宁市大坪镇，原写作鱼田，客家话中“鱼”“吴”同音，故改写。[1]
名称与沿革[edit]
此地地貌像一条鱼，田地宽阔，过去田里又有不少杂鱼可捕，叫鱼田。梅州客家话里“鱼”与“吴”读音一样，后人就写成了吴田。[1]
1984年至1987年设吴田乡，1987年4月称吴田村，1989年9月改称管理区，1999年4月又恢复称吴田村。[1]
