大福村位于兴宁市大坪镇，村名由“大佛”谐音而来。[1]

名称与沿革[edit]

辖区内原有一座神坛，名叫大佛宫，故一度称大佛；“佛”与“福”同音，写成了大福。[1]

1949年成立村农会，1958年改为大福大队，到1983年11月设大福乡，1987年起称大福村，1989年为管理区，1999年起定名为大福村委会，沿用至今。[1]
