地名由来与历史沿革[edit]

又叫近江寨，因聚落离琴江河很近而得名。[1]

村级建制的变迁：1949年为近江乡，1958年建有近江大队，1983年易名为近江村，1989年叫作近江管理区，1999年变为近江村委会。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

村内的锡坑儒林第是清代建筑，三堂二横屋四角楼的布局，面宽46.5米、进深30米，占地2278平方米；门额刻“儒林第”三字，厅堂悬有“克笃前烈”“徽传中垒”两块匾额[2]。2020年3月13日，梅州市人民政府将它公布为第七批市级文物保护单位[2]。
