这里原先没有统一的地名，土地改革后定名然新乡，取焕然一新之意[1]。然新大队是1973年从社且大队分出而成的；1983年建乡，1986年改称管理区，1999年又称村村民委员会[1]。

基本情况[edit]

据博雅地名网，全村在册144户、758人，总面积15平方千米，耕地264亩，主要经济作物是茶[1]。2019年9月列入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单[1]。
