建桥镇在广东省梅州市丰顺县西北部，东面是丰良镇，南面是北斗镇，西面是兴宁市水口镇，北面是梅县区畲江镇，离县城37千米、离梅州市区51千米。[1][2]全镇国土面积93.79平方千米，辖10个行政村。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

据记载，清代初年境内有建桥堡、环清堡两个堡，同属嘉应直隶州万安都三图。进入民国，两堡各改为乡，仍名建桥、环清。新中国成立初期，这里划入第四区。1987年4月成立建桥乡，1993年9月改制设镇。[1][3]

地名由来[edit]

博雅地名网记述的说法是：境内河溪不止一条，又是连通潮、梅两地的要道，常常要架桥；当地大族张氏屡次出力造桥铺路，相传镇名即由此而来。[3]

地理与交通[edit]

镇内群山环绕，农田沿河分布。206国道由全镇穿过；铁路方面有梅汕铁路的青潭站和梅汕高铁的建桥站，梅汕高速的径义出口也在附近。[2]

人口与经济[edit]

据镇概况所载，全镇耕地1.45万亩，林地10.47万亩，户籍人口约3.04万、常住人口约1.27万；经济以种植业和劳务输出为主，主要种植水稻、番薯、蜜柚、柑桔、烟草、毛豆，劳务输出以珠三角地区为主。[2]2018年户籍人口为30807人。[1]2019年全镇生产总值21837万元，农业部分7105万元，工业部分约2037万元。[1]

2021年1月，建桥镇获评2020年度广东省卫生城镇。[3]

名胜古迹[edit]

镇内有200年以上历史的古围建筑8座和革命烈士纪念碑1座。[2]其中建桥围在建桥村，详见建桥村。[4]
