梅西镇是广东省梅州市梅县区西北部的一个镇，处在梅县区、兴宁市与平远县交界的地方，镇政府驻龙虎圩。[1]全镇面积92.5平方千米，2018年户籍人口30961人，2020年6月辖2个社区、17个行政村。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

这一带在清代叫李坑堡。民国年间先后划作第五区的一部分（1931年）和第二区的李坑乡（1941年）；新政权初期置梅西区，李坑乡则在1956年重建。[3]

梅西人民公社成立于1958年。1966年6月，公社把五个村（车子排、丰田、石赖、柱坑、幸福）交给上官塘水库管理，社址随之从车子排迁往龙虎圩，公社改名龙虎人民公社，当年冬天再改红星人民公社。1968年冬，原名恢复，五村也重回公社。[3]此后在1983年冬改为区，1987年撤区设镇。[3]

镇名因地处梅城以西而来。[2]上官塘水库后来更名梅西水库，百度百科称其位于梅西镇西部的程江中游，1967年4月竣工。[4]

地理环境[edit]

镇的中心点约在东经116度07分、北纬24度18分。东面与大坪镇、上官塘水库相连，西南与石坑镇相邻，东北同平远县的长田镇、大柘镇、石正镇交界，西北接兴宁市黄槐镇。[1]

人口与区划[edit]

2018年末全镇户籍人口30961人；2020年第七次全国人口普查，博雅地名网记梅西镇常住人口为1.44万人。[1][2]镇辖龙虎、车子排2个社区和幸福、白面、永福、罗墩、均田、石篆、田福、崇化、车子排、柱坑、三益、龙虎、石赖、丰田、宜塘、盛塘、龙增17个行政村。[1][2]

经济[edit]

博雅地名网称梅西是边贸重镇，镇内有车子排、龙虎两个圩场，辖区内有广东省四〇一厂。[2]三益村以金柚入选2021年第二批广东省“一村一品、一镇一业”专业村，宜塘村以鸡肉菌入选2020年首批名单。[2]

文化与名胜[edit]

寨岌顶遗址在龙虎圩背，年代为周代，1982年发现；出土陶器以瓮、罐居多，纹饰有方格纹、曲折纹、回形纹、夔纹等，石器有斧、锛、环、镞，附近八个山岗上也见同类遗物。[2]梅西是革命老苏区，独四大队曾在此作战，梅县解放后设梅西区人民政府，区址先后在大坪、车子排。[2]

梅西镇在2021年1月获得2020年度广东省卫生城镇的称号。[2]
