莆蔚村是梅州市梅江区西阳镇所辖的一个行政村。解放前此地称铺（布）尾坝，常遭洪水淹浸，泥沙冲积成沙坝；后来建了一所莆蔚小学，村也随学校得名。又有说法是莆田村与埠尾村合称，客家话里「尾」「蔚」音近，故作莆蔚。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

这一带解放前称埠尾坝，明清时期归西阳堡管，民国时归西阳乡。1958年成立莆蔚大队，隶属梅县西阳公社；1960年白宫另置公社后，仍留在西阳公社。1983年改称莆蔚乡，隶梅县市西阳区；1986年设村民委员会，1989年一度易名中为管理区，归梅县市西阳镇；1998年再改称莆蔚村委会。2003年白宫镇并入西阳镇，该村随之划归西阳镇；2012年9月23日起属梅江区。[1]
