南昆山生态旅游区在广东省惠州市龙门县西南部，与广州市增城区、从化区相邻，是统计用区划中与镇同级的特殊区域，由龙门县南昆山生态旅游区管理委员会管理。[1][3]百度百科记其总面积120.68平方千米，辖5个社区，常住人口3578人；博雅地名网只列出下坪、上坪2个社区。[1][3]区域以南昆山为主体，山上的广东南昆山国家森林公园是国家4A级旅游景区。[2]

据百度百科，旅游区的前身是1958年成立的南昆山林场。[1]广东省人民政府于1984年在山上划出自然保护区。[4]1993年，原林业部批准在此建立广东南昆山国家森林公园。[2]管理旅游区的管理委员会成立于2001年。[1]2007年，南昆山列为国家4A级旅游景区；2016年，旅游区被确定为国家生态旅游示范区。[1][2]广东省林业局在2018年10月把它认定为广东省森林小镇。[3]所辖的中坪尾村，在2019年进入首批全国乡村旅游重点村名单。[1]

南昆山古称蓝瀵山，是九连山脉南段的支脉，近东西走向，北回归线从山上穿过。[2]主峰天堂顶海拔1228米，周围另有7座海拔千米的山峰。[2]博雅地名网称山区平均海拔600多米，由西向东呈马蹄形，形成山谷盆地，距广州97公里、深圳162公里。[3]

各处记载的范围和数字不尽相同：百度百科称旅游区总面积120.68平方千米，称山体面积129平方千米，另一条目写作约124平方千米；森林覆盖率有93.95%（旅游区）和98.2%（南昆山）两种说法。[1][2][5]年均气温23℃，博雅地名网称夏季气温比广州等城市低6℃至8℃。[1][3]

维基百科记载，受保护的植物有194科703属1519种，动物有4纲29目76科295种，其中蟒蛇、云豹、林麝为国家一级保护动物。[4]据百度百科，区内有穗花杉、沙椤、红花荷等珍稀植物，连片毛竹林6万余亩，国家重点保护植物20余种。[1]

旅游是区内的主要产业，旺季为5至10月。[1]据百度百科，区内有度假村、民宿等住宿设施401家；2024年全年的游客量累计超过32万人次。[1]百度百科称旅游区正在推进创建国家级旅游度假区，拟定的规划范围约121平方千米。[1]

南昆山设有门票，景区在省道S355线和县道X222线设售票处，前者于2001年、后者于2005年获原广东省物价局批复；收费站设在省道上一事曾受媒体质疑。[4]

百度百科统计旅游区的自然景观共28处，如川龙瀑布、石河奇观、观音潭；另一条目称南昆山共有36处景点，列出的还有九重远眺、神鹰石、一线天形的石门、天堂顶和七仙湖。[1][5]石河奇观在游客中心附近，河中多怪石，有大小水潭相连。[6]
