霞新村是霞涌街道下辖的行政村，20世纪60年代初，渔民陆续从渔船上迁到岸上居住，形成当时霞涌镇的一个新村庄，故名[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网，村民委员会于1999年依广东省关于理顺农村基层管理体制的通知设立，名称取自在原霞涌管理区另建的新村委[1]。1983年以前，“霞新大队”曾与霞涌、霞居两个大队合并为霞涌乡[2]。
