庄垌村在东镇街道西北部，村域内的太华山是信宜的名山之一[1][2]。

地名由来[edit]

据博雅地名网所载，最先迁到此地居住的人姓庄，故名庄垌；这户人家后来迁回南宁[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

此地自1958年起为庄垌大队，其后至1983年称庄垌乡，再到1987年设村民委员会，又于1989年称管理区办事处，至1999年重称村民委员会[1]。

经济[edit]

据博雅地名网所载，村登记713户，人口3000人，总面积约15平方千米，耕地600亩；种八角、香蕉、水稻，养山地鸡和猪，其上一年农村经济总收入为2502万元[1]。

名胜古迹[edit]

太华山海拔678米，在市区西北约10公里处，与池洞镇交界；山顶是开阔草甸，西侧小盘地上有天池、仙湖和太尉庙、观音寺，古井被说成鉴江的源头之一[2]。山名据说源于明末邯、鄢、陶三位太尉抗清的传说；1991年，茂名市旅游局批准在此设立信宜市第一个旅游区，并划为历史文物保护区[2]。

荣誉[edit]

庄垌村于2023年5月被广东省爱卫会评为「2022年广东省卫生村」[1]。
