社区的名称由电白县人民政府于1987年批准命名，一直沿用。[1]

社区设有那霍木材市场，木材销往省内外，使这里成为茂名乃至粤西的木材集散地；此外还发展了其他产业，为居民增加了就业机会。[1]

荣誉[edit]

  • 2019年9月，列入「2018年广东省“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位」名单。[1]
  • 2024年3月，被命名为「2023年广东省卫生村」。[1]
