麻岗镇在广东省茂名市电白区中部，东邻树仔镇，南靠博贺渔港，西接旦场镇，北连林头镇，辖1个社区和20个行政村。[1][4]百度百科记载的面积为94.28平方千米，2019年末户籍人口82602人；博雅地名网则写作约110平方千米，并引用第七次全国人口普查的6.25万人。[1][2]镇域内的热水山下有热水温泉，现为御水古温泉度假区。[6][9]

历史沿革[edit]

这一带在隋唐时是南巴县的辖地，南巴坡在今麻岗，曾是县治所在。[1][2]972年（宋开宝五年）归茂名县管，到15世纪下半叶的明成化年间转属电白县。[2]清代归典史管辖，下分白马、那笈、麻红三个堡。[2]民国时期分属第一区、第三区，1949年以后为第二区。[2]

人民公社时期，这里先在1958年9月归红星公社，次年6月单设麻岗公社。[2]后来公社改区（1983年11月），区又改镇（1987年4月）。[1][2]

关于地名，博雅地名网转述一种传说：隋朝初年有人用麻绳把建筑材料扛上山岗修道观，因此得名“麻岗”。[2]

地理环境[edit]

镇政府驻温泉中路，气候属亚热带大陆季风性气候。[1]国道325线东西向穿过镇域，麻宿、麻博公路向南通出。[3]博雅地名网转录的镇情介绍（年代较早，未注明年份）称，可开发的山地有4.8万亩，滩涂3万亩；水库有热水水库，另有6座小型的；麻岗河全长10公里，流过其中11个行政村。[3]麻岗河流域面积不足100平方千米，是茂名市首批幸福河湖。[5]

经济[edit]

据百度百科，2019年的统计是：工业企业68家（规模以上19家），营业面积超过50平方米的综合商店或超市15家。[1]上述较早的镇情介绍还说，镇里的支柱产业有香精和复合肥加工，农业方面有水果、粮食、水产品的生产基地。[3]各村的种养情况，见各村条目；荔枝、北运菜、花生等是村情资料中常见的作物，牛门村的沃柑、大路街村的荔枝于2020年8月进入首批广东省「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村名单。[7][8]

名胜古迹[edit]

热水温泉在镇西北的热水山下，明嘉靖十八年（1539年）由巡按御史涂相主持修建；山脚有明代的灵源古寺，山上有摩崖石刻。[6]如今的御水古温泉度假区位于热水村，是国家4A级旅游景区，2023年被评为“中国五星级温泉”。[9]详见热水村。
