历史沿革[edit]

1958年之前，潭元一带由平步乡管辖。此后它先后是潭元管理区（1958年）、潭元大队（1961年）、潭元乡（1984年）和村委会（1987年2月），1989年又称管理区，1999年7月定为潭元村民委员会。[1]

潭元村是2021年1月公布的湛江市2020年度全市文明村之一。[1]
