丰南在人民公社时期（1958年至1961年）隶属丰南大队；1987年2月设村委会，1989年划成三个管理区，1999年恢复为村民委员会。[1]

湛江市2020年度全市文明村的评选中，丰南村在2021年1月公布的结果里有名。[1]
