村委会1993年1月由垭坭塘村迁到边塘村。[1][2]

2026年3月，该村被认定为广东省第三批「百千万工程」典型村镇。[1][2]

2021年9月，该村入选广东省农业农村厅第二批「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村（圣女果）。[1][2]

人口民族[edit]

据2005年的统计，全村793户、2810人，汉族约占98%，另有壮族、苗族等；姓氏方面，郑姓约占97%，另有苏姓；村民通行黎话（约占90%）和白话。[1][2]

经济[edit]

耕地共2273亩（2005年），种的作物有水稻、番薯、木薯、芋头、花生和蔬菜；该年粮食产量1378.9吨，渔业产量143吨，经济总收入为720万元。[1][2]

村里的土特产有甘蔗、芋头、蒜头、尖椒、木薯。[1][2]
