东街社区是广东省湛江市廉江市罗州街道辖下的社区，居委会设在中山三路，是廉江市政府和罗州街道办事处的所在社区。社区因靠近东街而得名[3]。

历史沿革[edit]

此地在1950年设东街乡，划在廉江县第一区；之后几经改称：1958年为东街大队（红旗公社），1983年又作东街乡，1986年1月成东街居委会并属廉城镇，1989年叫管理区，1999年起是现在的社区居委会。2004年5月，社区随廉城镇改街道而归罗州街道[1]。博雅地名网所录社区简介则说，居委会成立于1965年8月[2]。

经济与社会[edit]

简介称社区常住人口12004人（未注明年份），辖区内有廉江较大的超市之一昌大昌，并聚集成东街的五金电器街与五一路的成衣鞋业街两条特色商业街[2]。居委会曾集资把旧办公室改建成400平方米的商场，还办过安装路灯、修建公厕、铺修道路等事务[2]。2019年9月，东街社区入选「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位」名单[1]。
