历史沿革[edit]
博雅地名网载，该居委会1949年为东街小组，1958年为东街生产队，1961年为东街居委会，1966年为东街革命委员会，1968年起恢复为东街居委会至今[1]。
名胜古迹[edit]
中山公园东侧的严家祠，格局为两进的四合院，最初是霞海书院，创办于崇祯十四年（1641年）；康熙五十九年（1720年）整修后才有严家祠之名[1][2]。党史上，南路地区最早的党支部即成立于此：1925年6月邵贞昌等党员组建了中共电白县支部，1926年2月县农民协会随后也设在这里[1][2]。保护级别方面，它先后是县级（2000年）、市级（2003年）文物保护单位，2022年再入选省级的第十批名单[2]。
