南门塘社区在徐闻县城中心，归徐城街道管辖，社区名来自附近的古迹南门塘。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
六十年代初这里叫红卫居委会，1983年起改称南门塘社区居民委员会。[1]
南门塘[edit]
南门塘在古城南门外，古名“月池”，是明隆庆年间（1567—1572年）开挖的人工池塘，曾是“徐阳八景”中“水心冰壶”所在，池中水心亭1956年被拆。池塘占地约52690.87平方米，后建成南门塘公园，2025年1月开放；同月16日，徐闻县人民政府公布它为县级文物保护单位。[2]
荣誉[edit]
2019年9月，南门塘社区列入「民主法治示范村（社区）」2018年度广东省创建单位名单。[1]
