海东是湛江市坡头区南调街道的社区，因地处湛江海湾东岸而得名。它的前身是烟楼大队，1998年从南调管理区分出，成立居委会。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

社区的源头是烟楼大队，在1959年之前包含于南调乡内。那一年南调乡分成三块（南调、瑶贯、烟楼），受坡头公社领导，到1977年又被并回一个南调大队。[1]此后南调先后叫乡、管理区，期间1985年归入新设的南调街道。[1]烟楼一带在1998年7月脱离南调管理区，自立居委会，取名海东；2002年改设社区。[1]2020年7月，怡海社区又从海东社区划出。[2]

荣誉[edit]

社区名列「2018年广东省“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位」，榜单发布于2019年9月；2026年3月，又获认定为「广东省第三批“百千万工程”典型村镇」。[1]
