南调街道在广东省湛江市坡头区的东岸，地处湛江海湾东侧，辖区面积约36平方千米，同时是坡头区人民政府所在的街道。[1][5]据2019年末统计，街道有户籍居民61562人，农业人口占其中的20296人；至2021年10月，辖7个社区和3个行政村。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
隋代，这一带属吴川县。光绪二十五年（1899年）起，南调一带归入法国租借地广州湾；日军于1943年占领此地，战后又由吴川县管辖。[3]新中国成立后的1952年，属吴川县第八区；两年后一分为三，即南调乡、麻东乡和麻西乡。[3]1958年并入坡头人民公社，1959年撤营改设七个大队；麻东公社存在于1961至1963年，之后并入坡头公社。[3]
街道建于1985年7月：原属坡头区公所（今坡头镇）的麻西、林口、南调、麻东四乡被划出，合设为街道。[3][1]
街道的名称来自南调村：新中国成立初期，南昌、调高两地合并成立农协会，各取一字，合称南调。[2]
地理环境[edit]
街道位于坡头区东岸，北与麻斜街道相接，东邻坡头镇，西隔海与霞山区相望，南面隔河对着南三镇。[1]气候属南亚热带海洋性季风气候。[1]
人口民族[edit]
第七次全国人口普查（2020年）登记的人口为6.91万，在坡头区的街道和乡镇里排第一。[2]
经济[edit]
2019年，街道的工业总产值是1.57亿元，农业则为1.04亿元，当年固定资产投资共4.91亿元。财政方面，公共财政预算收入1968.1万元；务农居民人均可支配收入为9853元。[1]
《中国城市报》2025年的报道把南调街道描述为湛江城市更新的主阵地之一和央企职工的聚居地，新旧小区与村改居社区交错。街道的7个社区推进“三旧”改造、城区扩容提质时，同几家中央企业（中海油、宝钢、中科炼化）联系，搞企地共建。[4]

街道下设一处管理国企退休人员的服务机构；它在管理国企退休党员方面的做法，被收进广东省的离退休干部党建创新案例。[4]
