居委会于2002年8月设立，其时重新划分区域，由东二居委会、友谊西居委会两个旧居委会合并而成，沿用至今。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2019年9月，建新社区进入「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位」名单。[1]
