百姓村在湛江市赤坎区，归南桥街道管辖，区划代码440802007201，处在赤坎城区的中心。村民来自四面八方，姓氏一百多种，是一个典型的移民村，村名由此而来。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
建置上，1953年先称百姓乡，1958年称大队，1983年又称乡，1986年设村委会，1989年称管理区，2000年再定为村委会。[1]据百度百科，聚落成形于清康熙年间，最早的居民从福建莆田、兴化和广东化州、电白等处迁来，合计25个姓；赤坎城区在1984年向外扩展，村子渐成城中村。[2]
经济与荣誉[edit]
百度百科记，全村5.8平方千米，到2000年居民超过一万二千人；村集体把土地管理、规划建设、经营管理、福利分配四件事都统一起来，投资两亿多元，建起酒店等项目；2008年集体经济净收入过千万元。[2]2023年1月，司法部和民政部公布百姓村为「第九批全国民主法治示范村（社区）」；同年11月，它进入广东「百千万工程」的首批典型名单。[1]
