茅湾村是广东省台山市川岛镇的一个行政村，在下川岛东南部，北面靠着冲天峰和黄竹山，南面朝海，与川东村相邻。村子三面的高山上长满茅草，「茅湾」之名由此而来。[1][2] 村民半农半渔，特产是虾酱。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

民国时期这里属台山县第五区，称茅湾乡；1958年为上川公社的茅湾大队；1983年下川区设茅湾乡；1988年下川撤区建镇，这里成为茅湾管理区；到1999年改设村民委员会。[1]

据川山群岛旅游网的介绍，村前的大涌旧时是渔船避风的港湾，可停泊十四棚罟船，容纳两千多人，晚上还有粤剧艺人登台演出。[3]

地理环境[edit]

村域5.31平方千米，有3条自然村。[1] 村子三面环山、一面向海，地势较平，平原与丘陵相间，民居成片聚在一起，四周是连片的农田。[1][3] 村前有大王坑的溪水流过，灌溉农田后入海。[3] 牛迳山下的牛迳水库容量约10万立方米，用来灌溉川东一带的农田。[1][3] 村子正对大湾海滩，海滩呈弯月形，是看海上日出的地方。[1][3]

经济[edit]

全村有耕地605亩，其中水田略多，为340亩，岗地为265亩，出产稻谷、番薯和花生。[1] 渔业以浅海捕捞为主，产鱼、虾、蟹，林业也是一项收入来源；禽畜有猪、牛、羊。[1][2] 百度百科所记村集体经济年收入为2万元。[1] 每逢休渔期，村道旁常堆着摊开的渔网，渔民坐在小凳上修补，休渔期结束后再出海。[3]

江门日报2023年报道，茅湾村已实现脱贫，并通过发包海域和滩涂增加了集体收入。[4]
