海星是汕头市濠江区马滘街道下辖的社区居委会，位于街道中心，原是以晒盐为业的盐业大队。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网所载，社区因世代制盐，而盐须用海水晒成，晒出的盐粒在阳光下闪烁如星，故名海星。[1]1975年7月，达濠公社的马滘大队拆分为农业、盐业两个大队；1979年9月，汕头市郊革委会批准把原盐业大队分为海光、海星、海明三个大队。1980年属达濠镇，1984年改称海星村委会，1999年6月又改为居委会，均属马滘街道。[1]

地理与经济[edit]

社区地处街道中部，占地约1.2平方公里，人口接近3200，居委会在大众路76号；它与凤岗相邻，同海光、海明、和社、马滘诸社区的地块交错。[1]社区原有的集体资源是盐田3700公亩（合555市亩），旱地86亩，海水养殖塘90亩，淡水塘30亩，滩涂150亩，但集体并无固定产业收入；改革开放后，富余劳力多外出从事建筑业，组建了多支施工队到各地承包工程。[1]2024年1月，社区入选「2023年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」。[1]
